Hold A Community Conversation about Sex Education

In January, the Centers for Disease Control released reports showing an increase
in the teen pregnancy rate in California along with persistent and staggeringly
high rates of sexually transmitted diseases (STDs). The CDC confirms that

of color. Fifty percent of African American teenage girls have an STD, a rate
twice that of the overall teen girl population.
The economic downturn is severely impacting the availability of affordable
health care services. Many clergy are struggling with how to address these
issues of the health and welfare of their individual congregants and the community
at large. This meeting will be an opportunity to come together, get the facts,
and think through appropriate responses.
