PROGRAMS | BLACK CHURCH INITIATIVE
National Sermon Contest
Sponsored by the National Black Church Initiative, a program of the Religious Coalition for Reproductive Choice, this contest is intended to create opportunities and support preaching that addresses human sexuality and the Black Church. This year's possible sermon topics were the Black Church and Domestic Violence, the Black Church and Homosexuality, the Black Church and Reproductive Justice and the Black Church and HIV and AIDS. Ordained clergy and seminarians were eligible to submit sermons preached or developed specifically for this contest. Sermons condemning homosexuality or advocating violence against women were not considered.
