Dear Partners, Funders, Supporters, and others:
It is often difficult for organizations to discern when the season for beloved activities and ways of engaging our work has come to an end. This discernment must be guided by the changing demands and resources of our current context.
RCRC state affiliates were established two years after the establishment of RCRC National, based on a clear understanding of the importance of state level advocacy. For more than 40 years RCRC has supported, in various ways and to various degrees, the work of state affiliates. Due in part to changes in the funding landscape, despite our continued commitment to and value of state-based work, our ability to provide support to state affiliates has decreased significantly.
As a result, the RCRC Board has been engaging in strategic conversations for months about various partnership-focused models and the best ways forward to ensure sustainable viability.
We have assessed two vital and greatly under-served needs in today’s reproductive freedom movement: education and spiritual care. As the RCRC Board and Staff have assessed these needs and in light of the current funding realities, no longer do we have the capacity to support state-based advocacy or sponsor affiliate meetings and gatherings.
As such, we will be dissolving our state affiliate network.
We acknowledge that if RCRC is to live out the bold prophetic witness needed in this era, we must take bold action. We take these steps with sincere and deep appreciation for the work and sacrifices all dedicated state affiliate leaders (volunteer and paid) have brought through the years.
Looking toward the future, we highly value the collaborative work we have engaged in with partners, including that of state affiliates and local grassroots groups. We plan on continuing such collaboration with all parties who wish to remain connected. We hope this reflects a new partnership model–one that will ensure RCRC’s continued focus upon cross-sector alliances while also empowering organizational agility and sustainability, which are key to RCRC’s ongoing success.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
