NEW INITIATIVE LAUNCHES TO SUSTAIN COMMUNITY IN TROUBLED TIMES

Advocates come together to help people take action, sustain their physical, emotional, and spiritual health, and continue cultivating community.

Joint statement on a new video series in collaboration with a robust set of partners, activists, health professionals and academics to help people feel supported and informed:

“Earlier today, The Womxn Project, SisterSong: National Women of Color Reproductive Justice Collective, the Colorado Organization for Latina Opportunity and Reproductive Rights (COLOR), and the Religious Coalition for Reproductive Choice (RCRC) launched a video series to share information, resources, and support to make sure that even if people cannot be in spaces together, our communities can still connect.

It is a troubling time, but it is also an opportunity to make it clear that we will keep showing up for the people we work with and for – no matter what. This initiative is intended to help people feel like they are part of something and that there are organizations that are still watching out for them and advocating for their health, rights, and justice.

We launched today with a call for immediate federal action on paid family leave from COLOR’s Policy Director, Karla Gonzales Garcia; a beautiful sermon from RCRC’s Director of Spiritual Care and Activism, Rev. Dr. Cari Jackson; and thoughts on how to be creative to stay engaged and connected from TWP’s Co-Director, Jocelyn Foye.

In the coming weeks, we will continue to share actions folks can take, ways people are caring for themselves and keeping their families safe, and how we can support our communities.

We will get through this together. We will continue to build and to sustain ourselves, our families and our communities.”
